LATEST FROM WANGANUI.
By Cobb's coach, which arrived last night, we have Wanganui papers to the 14th inst. The following is the only item of news :— THE FEONT. 1 Shortly after 11 o'clock yesterday, Col. Lyons drew up a small force consisting of the Wanganui and Volunteer Kai Iwi Cavalry and, about 150 Infantry in front of Titoko Waru's position, and at a distance of about 800 yards, gave the enemy ten or twelve shots from the Cohorn gun. The Cavalry wanted to charge, but Col. Lyons very properly prevented their doing so. After a little practice the Infantry returned to camp, and Colonel Lyons with Commissioner Edwards, and the two Troops of Cavalry started for Patea. where the charges made by Mr Booth against the Wanganui Cavalry will be investigated. As soon as that investigation is over, we shall have something to say upon the subject.
