The Government' steamer St. Hilda has Bailee! for Napier, and will for the present be employed in .-the public service, in plying between that port and Poverty Bay. The schooner Colleen Bawn, Captain Thompson, for Cape Turnagain, arrived in port on the 12th inst., with wool for the Melita. This yesTesael ia taking in stores for the same station, and will be ready to return again to-day. The schooner Ruby having been relieved from the Customs' department, is taking in a general cargo and passengers for the Eaikouras. She itil) proceed to sea this afternoon. The 6chooner Nautilus, recently stranded on the south spit of the Manawatu bar, has broken t»p; but we are glad to learn, that her cargo, ineludiug the valuable machinery for the flax dressing operations, has been mostly saved. The Nautilus was uninsured. The schooner Kate has been relieved from her involuntury thrnldom, by the Customs authorities, and is expected from Manawalu with a load of •Wool. The cutter Dawn, having discharged a cargo of flax and other colonial produce from the Mana■wttu, has taken in a full cargo for the same place, and will be ready to proceed to sea this evening. The ketch Alarm ia taking in cargo for the settlers at Rangitikei, and will proceed thither the beginning of next week. The ketch Elizabeth has been sold by Captain Stevenson to Captain Short for £750. This vessel will tako the residue of the flax-dressing machinery to Manawatu, and bring back a load of wool- She will sail on Tuesday next. The brigsntine Esther arrived yesterday afternoon, from Flat Point, with a loud of wool for the Melita, upon discharging which she will immediately* take in stores for the East Coast stations. The schooner Succeps arrived in port on Thursday last, from the East Coast, with a cargo of wool, consigned to Sir Pearce, for the ship Melita. The barque Comille, Captain Tucker, with coals from Newcastle, N.S.W., has discharged her cargo for the P.N.Z. & A.R.M. Company. She is taking in ballnst, and will be ready to return to Newcastle next week. The ship St. Vincent, from Cardiff with coals, consigned to the P.N.Z. & A.R.M. Co., has been lying in the stream for the last ten days, ready to discharge cargo. The cutter Pearl is laid on for Otaki river, ■where, doubtless, the settlers will be glad to see a vessel in their river ngain. The ship Melita, having upwards of 1000 baleß of wool on board, is fast filling up, and as the wool is coining very rapidly to hand, in nil probability she will sail at her advertised date. The sliip Electro, having all her wool engaged, and the bulk of her cargo on board, will be ready to proceed to sea at her advertised time of sailing. She lias 2500 bales of wool on board. The ship Wild Duck, Captain Bishop, is discharging her inward cargo from London, alongside Ihe Queen's wharf, in first-vato order. It is anticipated that elie -will complete discharging by the end of next week. She is laid on for London, and as most of her cargo is engaged, she will sail punctually to her ndvertised dute. Captain Bishop proceeds to England via Suez, by the Omeo this day. Captain BailJie, so long and favorably known as chief officer of the Wild Duck, was yesterday formally installed as commander.
