We have receive*! a copy of tbo Wellington Almnnack for tho year 1869, with the publisher's compliments. Year by year this publicution is becoming more valuablo os a work of reference, and this edition shows the sume comparative improvement as that displayed in previous issuos. There are many valuable additions, not tho least worthy of notici** being an alphabetical index of advertisements which enables persons d siring information to obtain the reference tbey require without tracing innumerable pages of notices. The tables aud nautical information have been compiled by Captain Renner, asufflcient guarantee tbat tho work has been carefully and efficiently dona The directories, both town aud country, appear to be complete aud accurate. We trust that ihe enterprise of tho publisher, Mr T "M'Kenzie, will meet with the liberal success of which it is so justly deserving.— New Zealand Advkiitiskk, December 31. We huvo received a copy of Mr M-Kenzio's Wellington Almanack and Directory for 18G9. The care bestowed on its compilation, aud the great amount of valuable information it conta ns, reflect tho highest credit on the publisher; and we cau confidently recommend it to the publio as the best almanack yet, issued ia Now Zealand.— Evening Post, January 5, We have to acknowledge the receipt of a copy of this Almanack, which is gradually beiug recognised as an indispensable part of the furnishing of the merchant's desk iv this part of tho colony at all events. The edition of this y earcontains several new features of importance. In fact, Mr M'Kenzie, tho enterprising publisher, has spared no pains to mako it a useful and reliable work of reference, and as such we can cordially recommend it to the public. Wangancji Ciikomci.e, Jauuery 9. We have to acknowledge the receipt of the above Alma nack, which is now iv tho fifth year of its publication. Though a considerable portion of the publication is necessarily of local interest only, it is not wanting in many features that are likely to render it acceptable to the man of busiuess in any part of tho colony. We notico au en. endeavor oa tbe part of tlie publisher to make the hook valuable as a domestic handbook, as indicated by the information given under the heud of "Tuble of income and wages," and "Housekeepers' ready reckoner." The almanack will, to some extent, answer the purposes of a "Qiiz-'tteer and Directory" The information under the head of "Postal guido, Customs' duties, tables, colonial statistics, tidal bar arid d.inger signals." and the ofliciai directory, cannot fail to render the Almanack a very valuable handbook. There is also a chapter devoted to telegraph charges aud regulations. Tiu typographical work is generally well executed In tho mutter of advertisements at least tho publisher appears to havo received tlio moßt cordial support. An unusually large proportion of tho book is devoted to these, fonniug in themselves a perfect mercantile uud trado directory.— Southkrn Ckoss, January 8. This publieatiou is perhaps the most complete of its kind now published in the colony. It has cxpeiieuced public favor now for fifteen years, and each year would appear to have extended its usefulness, by enabling the proprietor to bring into ils pages information more or lrss needful to overy class of colonists -agricultu'-ul, professional, mercantile, official, and to travellers, whether for pleasure or business. The information relating to the topography of the provinces, of Wellington especially, is most complete; but the character of the compilation may bo said to be colonial as well as provincial, for no pains are spared lo furnish those whoso avocations load them from province to province with information necessary to facilitate tho transit of merchandise. To mariners this book will bo found especially useful, tho sailing directions being very full, the local ami coloulal Ritual systems also being comploto, and the weather tables accurate and minuto To theso general features may bo added a Kfeat variety of miscellaneous information, such as postage rates, telegraph charges, stamp duties, lighthouse dues, law court fees, and legal oharges; clergy and army lists, Customs Tariff and list of decisions relating thereto : interest tables, ready reckoner, Sm. As a compilation, considered apart from the enterprise of the proprietor, it is worthy of especial notice, for not only is the information full, but great skill Ib exhibited in compressing it into the smallest possible compass. The result is a volume of convenient and portable size, in which will be found overy kind of colonial and provincial etfttlßticß.— Nkw Zealand Hubaid, January 8.
