MAURITIUS.
18th July. The weather is dry, but the plantations have not suffered. On some estates sugar making has commenced. The reports of tho yield are not favorable, but it is too early yet to form an opinion. The fever has not yet disappeared, but the general mortality lias greatly diminished. Sugars : Few-sales except small lots; syrup supplies, grey, completely exhausted ; a certain quantity of white sorts remain on the market, there being no demand. Several cargoes, bought some months ago, have been despatched to Australia ; quotations remain nominally the 6ame as last month. Australian, none ; wheat, 5.60 per 100 lbs; oats, none. Flour, Australian, none ; bran, Australian, 2.25 to 2.50, scarce. Australian sovereigns, 5 per cent premium. Freights— to Australia, £2 to £2 ss ; to Europe, £2 5s to £2 10s. Sailed— Caroline and Lady Agnes for Melbourne.
