Either there is little newßby the present mail, or the G-overnment agents at the Bluff who have prepared and sent up the telegrams are not up to their work. Many of the items of the telegrams published elsewhere have been received before, while the rest are of the most meagre description. There is not a single item of Continental news in the telegrams, and what has been sent of general intelligence is not of a very interesting kind. We really wish the Government would employ some person at the Bluff who would be moderately competent to the task of compiling the telegrams. In the whole course of our experience we never
intelligence in the same number of words employed, and make a far better selection of news. The intelligence, such as it is, may be I briefly summed up. The Queen and Eoyal Family are well, and the Princess Eoyal has had another son. The Fenian movement is apparently dying out; at least no fresh disturbances have taken place. We are again told, what we linew before, " that preparations are being made for a rapid advance with the Abyssinian expedition," which is satisfactory, when it is remembered that the expense is £400,000 a month. Finally, it is good news that the wool sales had commenced, and that an advance of one penny a pound had been obtained.
