NOT COMING. BY J. S. MTTIB. Strike the lyre in deepest wailing } For our absent Prince to-day. Let the mournful note prevailing ' Sound across the watery way, Not coining, not coming, Gone away. Bootless now our expectation, Tho' our loyal hearts bo full, Hope that Hushed an infant nation Pales beneath .Fate's bitter rule, Not coining, not coming, Sailed -away. For Victoria's son .uprising On him ull welcome to bestow. Hark ! our straining ears surprising Burst upon us words q£woe, Not coming, not coming, Alfred's away. Yot if distant, homeward bounding, Our sailor Prince now ploughs the main j Ten thousand voices loud resounding Cry " may he come out again," Tho' gone away.
