Otago. — The Times of the 4th reports : — The money market is easy. Bank ratos of discount are unchanged. Exchanges as follows : — Issue upon London at three days' sight, li per cent premium ; at 30 days, 1 per cent ; at 60 days, _- per cent ; on Melbourne, _• per cent premium ; and on Sydney and tho other Australian colonies, 1 per cent premium. Outside of the operations of millerß, very little has been seen of transactions in wheat or flours — the latest reported sales of good samples of wheat have been at 7s 6d ; but tho holders aro now looking for a further advance, which may have in a day or two to be conceded. Provincial flour is selling, for town made, at £19 10s to £20, to which price it has gradually reached from a value of £16 10s at the commencement of March. For Adelaide | flour, which is only obtainable or wanted in very small parcels, £27 it asked. A very good inquiry has been maintained for oats ; the current rate has remained at 3s during the last few days ; but growers are trying for better prices, and any outside demand springing up would suffice to cause an advance. Barley remains at 3s 9d to 4s, and I potatoes at £7. Maize is worth 3s 9d, with a slightly better inquiry. Pressed chaff, for which there is but little, demand, is worth £6. Oatmeal, £18. New Patna rice, £32, duty paid. Nelson. — Tho Examiner of tho 4th instant reports : — There is little to say this month to vary the tale of several months pnst — tho great depression in all branches of tho trade. Dullness reigns supreme, and, what is worse, we see no prospect of any immediate revival of trade. Tho only material change in our markets has been an advance of £2 a ton in the prico of flour. Flour has now, we beliove, reached its limit as any further advance would see importations received from South America, and prices thereby brought down. The present price of grain is sufficiently remunerative to the farmers, and we havo no wish to see the first necessary of life pushed up to a price that would bo severely felt by our working population. ■— — ■*—— —— _———■___——— —*— »■ _—__—_
