Bank of New Zealand. — From the published statement of the average amount of liabilities and assets of the Bank of New Zealand forthe quarter ended 30th September 1867. it appearß that the amount of notes in circulation afc that date was £269,080 8s 9d ; the bills in circulation, £22,197 16s 7d ; tho balances duo to other banks, £119,094 9s 8d ; tho deposits, £1,167,647 19 a4d ; tho total liabilities thus amounting to £1,608,020 14s 4d. The assseta were represented by — coin, £336,229 ls ld j bullion, £246,087 17s sd ; landed property, £20,948 19 4d j notes and hills of othor banks, £7799 6a 6d ; balances, due from other banks, £851 12s 9d j notes and. bills discounted, and all other debts due to the hank, £1,951,947 8s lOdj making the total assets, £2,563,863 7a lid. ExroiiT of Gold. — The quantity of gold exported from New Zealand during the year 1867 was 686;7530z, and tho value £2,700,275. In 1866, 735,3760z, of the value of £2,841,768 were exported. During the period between Ist April, 1857, and the 31st December, 1867, 8,746,2140z, of the value of £14,540,573 were exported from the colony. The Caledonian Lead. — The Westport Times states that everything in this district wears an aspect of business and stability that augurs well for ita future success. Two large streets have been formed, and the whole of the seotions have beon taken up, while public houses and stores are going up in all directions. On New Ballarat the building of tho huts and preparing timber for blocking out is the order of fche day. There isa goodly sprinkling of the fair sex, and tho township prosont quite a busy appearance — there being about 600 persons up on the leads., On the Middle or Cornish Terrace, a new rush took place on Friday. Eussoll and party, after soven months race-cutting have struck on splendid gold, ythiqh, will pay them for all their trouble and outlay Hughes and party's claim, on the terrace is also paying very well — the washdivfc yielding from, £2o to £25 per -week por man. The Q-efman Terrace is alsojooking well, and there are a great niany. people prospecting on both sides of .the; terrace.
