NEW ZEALAND INTERPIU) VINCI AL fcfTEAM MAIL SERV^ES. -~;*VrqTICE is hereby givon that tenders will be •l/T receiyed at this office until Thursday, the 9th day of January, 1868, for the performance of the undermentioned Steam Mail Services, for a period of six months from the commencement of the contract, deterir.inable at that date or any subsequent date by three months' previous notice m either side : — 1. From the Manukau to Wellington, monthly, calling at Taranaki, Nelson, and Picton ; this service to commence from tho Manukau on the 3rd March, 1868. "' " 2. From Auckland to Port Chalmers, monthly, calling atTauranga, Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelfcon ; this service to commence , from Auckland on the 12th February, 1868. " 3. From Wellington to the Bluff, monthly, calling at Lyttelton and Port Chalmers ; this service to commence from Wellington on the 23rd February, 1868. 4. From the Bluff to Wellington, monthly, calling at Port Chalmers and Lyttelton ; this service to commence from the Blulf on 3rd March, 1868. 5. From Port Chalmers to the Manukau, monthly, calling at Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, Nelson and Taranaki ; this service to commence from Port Chalmers on 20th February, 1868. 6. From Wellington to Auckland, monthly, calling at Napier and Tauranga j this service to commence from Wellington on the 26th February, 1868. Tho dates of arrivals and departures at the various ports to be in accordance with a Time table to be Been at this Office ; the Postmaster-Q-eneiul to have the power to alter the dates. A proper and secure room to be provided for the safe custody of tho mails. A chief cabin passage, free of cost, to bo provided, if required, for a postal officer. All mails to be landed, shipped, or transhipped by and at tho expense of the contractor, - excepting at Taranaki. The names, tonnage, and horse-power of the vessels pvop&scd to bo employed in this service to be stated, and the vessels to be approved by the Postmaster-General, and subject to bo surveyed by some person appointed by him whenovor he may consider it necessary. The Postmaster-General to have the power of detaining the vessels for twenty-four hours at any port without charge ; the rate of demurrage per diem for any further detention to be stated.
