THE BO MAN CATHOLIC ADDRESS TO SIR GEORGE GREY.

Thb following reply to the address presented to his Excellency Sir George Grey on Saturday on. behalf of the Rotuan Catholic clergy and laity of Wellington has been received by Bishop Viard : —

My Lord, Reverend gentlemen and gentlemen, — It is with feelings of lively 1 pleasure I receive from you this address. You inuy rest assured that I feel great sorrow at being again separated from you. It liaa afforded me much satisfaction to have been able to aid your clergy and missionaries in the selfdenying exertions they have for so many made, to promote the education and welfare in various respects of the people of New Zealand, and it is with great gratification that I have seen how well you have used the means which Providence permitted me to aid in providing you with, to enable you to curvy out your benevolent intentions towards the native race, many of whom owe to you a deep debt of gratitude, which I trust they will never forget. 1 thank you sincerely for your prayers for my future welfare. If my life is spared, I hope I may yet be able to promote your labors for the happiness of our fellow men. I have for so long a time aided you to the best of my ability, that I have acquired an interest in the success of your works, which will accompany me wherever 1 may go, as will also the remembrance of the friendly acts I have co often experienced from mmj amongst you, both recently and in years now long since passed away.
