SUPREME COURT — SITTINGS IN BANKRUPTCY.

Friday, October 25. [Before His Honor Air Justice Johnston.] The Court opened at 10 o'clock. In re Edward Smith. Mr Buckley, for tho petitioner, asked for a postponement till noxfc sittings, as ho had not been able to obtain a trustee. The application was granted. In re Thomas Herbert Smith. Mr Buckley appeared for tho petitioner, and asked that Mr George S. O'Halloran be appointed trustee. His Honor asked if Mr O'llalloran had not recently passed through the Court himself ? The Inspector in Bankruptcy said he had ; but the creditors did not oppose the appointment. His Honor made an order nisi, with leave to apply at the next sitting to rescind the order. In re J. Wilson Chisholm. Mr Cheesman, counsel for tho petitioner, stated j that there were no assets in this estate, aud applied for the appointment of Mr John Goll as trustee. His Honor said, if there were no assets, ha did not sco how a trustee could pay the necessary costs. Mr Cheesman said Mr Gell was prepared to liquidate all charges. His Honor would, in that case, allow the appointment. In re G. P. Baker. Mr Pharazyn, on behalf of tho petitioner, applied for tho appointment of Mr J. Hunt Hirst as trustee, stating that there were affidavits shewing that a meeting of creditors had taken place, when a trustee was appointed ; nnd that the gentleman so appointed was willing to act. His Honor remarked that it appeared tho estate would not pay 6s 8d in the pound. The Inspector in Bankruptcy said the assets consisted wholly of book debts. Mr Hirst was then appointed trustee, with the usual trusts. In re J. Goooisoif. The Inspector of Bankruptcy drew the atton* tion of the Court to tho fact that this bankrupt had not put down all his assets in the schedule. Tho Court then adjourned until the 11th December.
