THE Thorough-bred Horse FERGUS will stand for this season at Wellington, Hutt, and adjacent country districts. Fergus is a dark chestnut. — stands 16 hands — firat class action — plenty of bone and muscle. His dam was got by the celebrated horse Wanderer of New South Wales ; ho was got by Sir Hercules. Sir Hercules, sire of Cossack, Zoe, Wetsail, Phcebe, and numerous other winners, by the imported horse Cap-a-pie, out of the imported mare Paraguay ; Cap-a-pie by the Colonel, dam (sister to Cactus) out of the Duchess of York, by Waxy. Paraguay (who ran second for tho Oaks, and won the Newmarket Town Plato and Nursery Stakes) by Sir Hercules out of Paradigm, by Partisan. Sir Hercules by Whalebone, out of Peri, by Wanderer. The Colonel (who ran a dead heat for tho Derby, and won tho St Leger) by "Whisker, dam by Delphini, out of Tipple Cider by King Fergus ; vide Stud Book. Feegus won the first-class prizes at the Oamaru Pastoral and Agricultural Shows of 1863 and 1864., and in 1866 ut Waikouaiti. Terms : — £5 5s each mare, inclusive of groomftgc fees. Singlo Mares, £4 ; two or raoro mares, tho pro|>erfcy of the samo owner, £3 10a each. Paddocks, 2s €d a -week. Proper attention will bo given to mares, but bo responsibility undertaken. Purston got by FJying Dutchman out of Cruiskeen Xawn by Argiria. Her dam Brandy Bet, by Canteen out of Bigotini by Thunderbelt, Flying Dutchman by Bay Middelton out of Barbello, dam of Van Tromp. Vesta, by Sir Watkin out of Old Vesta, half sister to Jorrocks by Egremont, ©ut of Lady Cordelia. Blood second to nono ever imported into New Zealand. Will etand at the owner's atables, Criterion Hotel, Upper Hiitt. Terms £4 4s for single mares. Good paddocks provided ior mares at 3s per vreek, without responsibility.
