Beabs in Otago. — A brown bear, brought to Otago from Vancouver's Island by tho commander of the ship Parisian, has been purchased hy Mi- S. G-. Isaacs, and has become so tame that it will follow its new owner about like a dog. and eat from his hand.
European Flax Culture. — The Ida Zeiglur ■brought a parcel of twenty barrels of European Hax seed, ordered from England by tho Provincial Government of Auek!aul, with the view of testing wlvMhev or not European flax can bo profitably cultivated in this country.
