LIQUOR CAKBOiMS DOERGENS or Concentruted alcoholic solution of the constituents of Coal Tar. (lixtraet from Lancet, December 22, 1866). "Liq. (Jakbonis Detekgens. — We are very sceptical of the value of new remedies, and it was m a spirit of scepticism that we tried tho liq. carbonis detergent. It is represented to be a concentrated alcoholic solution of the constituents of coal tar, and to contain all tho active ingredients of the tar, to wit, benzine, napthuline, and phenic acid. The addition of water, with agitation, .makes a durable emulsion, in which the tar remains in a. state of fl-no' suspension, almost equivalent to solution. Our therapeutical experience of the preparation is very satisfactory indeed. In our hands it has been a most effective agent in the case of various skin diseases, especially of tho chronic eczematoua class ; and one case of psoriasis which had resisted all other kinds of treatment speedily well under the application of the liq. carbonis detergens. We e.-teein it a very valuable addition to our list of skin remedies, and worthy of a very extended trial by the profession. In the above classes of disease, and in various others, such as fetid ulcers, &o, the preparation is put into tho fi.»rm of soap." PURE COAL TAR SOAP, (Registered as sapo carbonis detergent-) . This soap is unrivalled as a skin soap, as proved by abundant medical testimony. By daily uso infectious diseases are prevented, and a clear and healthy appearance imparted to the skin.
