"" ' TUESDAYrSEPfICMBER 3V ' ' The Speaker took the chair at two o'clock,' 1 ■ The minutes of the last sitting were read and confirmed. SCHOLARSHIPS. On the motion of- the Hon. Mr: Holmes, the petitions from Dunedin and Cliristohurch relative to scholarships, were referred to the Select Committee on University Scholarships. RAILWAY COMMISSIONS. A Select Committee was appointed to prepare an address to tho Governor in conformity' with resolutions of the Council respecting the construction of railways and railway commission and gunge. JURY ACT. An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to jurors in Now Zealand, was brought in by the Hon. Mujor Richardson and read a first time. SECOND READINGS. The Canterbury Public Reserves Bill, the Divorce and' Matrimonial Causes Bill, and the Wairarapa Racocourso Exchanges Bill, were road a second time. THIRD READING. The Bills of Sale Bill was read a third time and passed. Tho Council then resolved itself into Committee, and after some time spent therein, adjourned.
