NATIVE FIGHT NEAE WAIMATE. The arrival of the s.s. Airedale puts us in possession of Auckland tiles to the 18th inst. FIGHT BETWEEN TWO NGAPUHI HAPUS. The Eussell- correspondent of the Southern j Cross, writing on the 12th July, says: — ' Some weeks ago fcwo hapus of the Ngapuhi tribe had a dispute about a piece of land in the neighborhood of Waimate, and had a hostile meeting (I don't know whether I can call ifc a fight) on' the subject, at which no damage was done, beyond breaking an old musket. Mr Williams, E.M., endeavored to make peace between thera,andthoughthehad succeeded, but yesterday and the .day before tbey met again, and were either more in earnest or took better aim, for report says that seven men were killed and several more wouuded. lam unable afc present to give the names, or any further particulars ; but I belbve whafc I have told you may be relied upon as a fact." Tho correspondent of the N.Z. Serald states tliat three of the slain were fighting ou Wi JCatene's side and four on Piripi Korongahi's. Amongst the killed are Eenata Kawana, from Oromahoe ; Piripi, Maihoa, Te Maura, and the' wounded, Pene Whare Oneone, and Euafcara, a son-in-law of old Kawiti. NEW ZEALAND INSUEANOE COMPANY. The half-yearly meeting of this company was held on Wednesday last. The report showed that the operations of the company for the half-year ending May 31, 1867, left a profit of £5,205 2s 4d ; but as in the previous half year a large loss had been sustained, the balance sheefc for the whole year showed a loss of £1,951 4s lOd. The available balance on 31st May was £5,205 2s 4d (since reduced by over £1000 through losses), nnd tlie directors recommended that a dividend of five per cent, on iho half-year be, paid oufc of the balauce. Thia reporfc was adopted, and Messrs Frazer and Warner wore elected auditors. ,' GOLD DISCOVERIES. Ifc was reported thafc some natives had found gold in a creek at Kanaerangi. >
