Tuesday, 16th October. The Chief Secretary gave notice today of a series of resolutions to the effect that, it is desirable to abandon the Northern territory settlement, and to refund to purchasers * money paid by them for land. Weather splendid. Haymaking is general on the plains. The crop is likely to be very good. The corn market is very dull. Wheat, 4s 7d to ss ; flour, £11 15s to £12.
