The N.Z.S.N. Company's s.s. Storm Bird, 104, tons, Captain Glcadow, from Wanganui, Tarn- 1 naki, and Manukau, arrived in harbor at 4 o'clock on Sunday morning. The Storm Bird left the latter port at noon on the 30th ult., and arrived at Taranaki at 9 o'clock on the following morning but owing to a very heavy swell from the N.W. the serf boats were unable to land any cargo, and the utmost difficulty was experienced in getting the passengers The attempt was made, hoivcvei*, and 'succeeded fortunately without any accident. At 1.30 p.m. on the 31st lilt, the Storm Bird again got uuderweigh and sailed for Wanganui, where she arrived at 10 o'clock on the morning of the Ist inst. ; left Wanganui again in the course of Saturday afternoon, and arrived, as above, after a fine passage down the coast Captain Gleadow reports that after crossing the Manukau bar, and when about four miles south of the heads ho descried the mainmast and a portion of the main boom of a cutter tossing about in the water, and he supposes them to have belonged to the cutter Quickstep, the loss of which we reported in a recent issue. Tho P.,N.Z. & A.R.M. Co., and the N.Z.S.N. Co., have now commenced to run boats undw the new Inter-Provincial steam subsides. The first company will be represented by the steam ships, Claud Hamilton, and Phccbe, and the fleet of the N.Z.S.N. Co., will gain no disci-edit when represented by the two fine steamers Wellington and Taranaki. This latter vessel and the Phoebe will perform the West Coast, and the Claud Hamilton and Wellington the East Coast service.
