Oar files by the 8.8. Queen, which arrived in hnrbor at 8.30 on Friday evening, are to the 21st ult. THE BIYEBTON GOW> FIELDB. The Southland papers have further newg from Riverton and Jackson's Bay. There is a probability of gold fields of a payable description being opened at various locations on the coast line between the above two places. At Longwood and Color Brfy the population is steadily increasing, and no dissatisfaction is expressed at the yields- which are being obtained. The coast line is reported in the Southland News to bo auriferous, and only requiring time and perseverance to develop its character. HOBTICULTUBAL AND FLOBTICULTtTBAL SOCIETY. One of these -societies has been formed in Invercargill, and. is progressing in a manner that surpasses 1 the most sanguine expectation of its promoters. The first Competition Exhibition will be held on the ldth inst, THE SOUTHLAND STEAMEB. The Southland steamer, which, has for some time been laid up, has commenced run ning between the Bluff and Dunedin.
