THE PORIRUA ELECTION.

' I At noon yesterday the nomination of a candidate to represent the district of Porirua in the General Assembly, took place in front of the School House at Kai-warra-wavra. There wero only three electors present. The Returning Officer having read the writ, and called on the electors to use their privilege. ' Mr. Jaracs Mitchell proposed Alfred de Bathe Brandon, Esq., as a fit and proper person to represent tho district in. tho Geueral Assembly. j Mr. James Taylor seconded the nomina- i tion. ' No other candidate having been proposed, the returning officer declared A. de B. Brandon Esq. duly elected. Mr. Brandon then simply said " Gentlemen, I thank you for ro-electing me," and the proceedings terminated with a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer, J. C. Oraw ford, Esq.
