Arrival of the Sandfly.— The gunboat Sandfly, Captain Fox, arrived in this port from i Wanganui on the morning of Saturday last. The Sandfly brought down the Maori prisoners, captured after the capitulation of the Wereroa pa. Arrival of the s.s. Tararua.—The P.,N.Z., and A.R.M. s.s. Tararua, Captain J. Gardyno, from Southern Ports, arrived in this hivrbor at 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon. The Tararua left Port Chalmers at 1.30 p.m. on the 29th, arrived at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. on the following day, thus running from port to port in 151 hours. Sailed from Lyttelton at 4 p.m. on the 30th, and met with strong contrary winds. Arrival of the s.s. Storm Bird. —The N.ZS.N. Company's s.s. Storm Bird, Captain G. F. Thompson, arrived in this harbor at 1.30 a.m. on Sunday morning from Wanganui, which port she left at 1 p.m. the previous day. The s.s. Storm Bird left Wellington on the 24th ult at 6 p.m., arrived at Kapiti anchorage at 9.25 a.m. tho following day, sailed again at 7 a.m. on the 26th ult, and arrived at Wanganui at 3.30 p.m. on the 26th. On her upward trip the Storm Bird experienced a heavy northerly gale,. but on her downward trip the weather was fine, and the sea smooth. Arrival of the s.s. Queen. —The N.Z.S.N. Company's s.s Queen, Captain Cellem, returned to this port at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday from Napier and Auckland, having been away from here since the 15th ult, on which date she loft for Napier, where she arrived at 6 a.m. on Monday the 17th j ult; left again at 4.20 the same day, arrived at Tauranga at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, the 19th, left again at 9 a.m., and arrived at Auckland the following day at 2 a.m.; left Auckland at 5.20 p.m. on the 23rd, arrived at Tauranga at 9 a.m. on the 24th ult, sailed again at noon, arrived at Napier at 9 p.m. tho following day; left again at 11 a.m. on Thursday, the 27th, arrived at Castle Point at 10.30 a.m. on Friday, left at 4 a.m. on Saturday last and arrived as above. Tho Queen left Wellington with light airs from the N.E. and rain, and experienced fresh E.N.E. breezes during her upward trip. Tho weather from Auckland to Tauranga was fine, but the wind increased to a gale between the East Cape and Napier with a very heavy sea. The s.s. Lord Ashley and the s.s. St Kilda arrived at Napier on the 25th, his Honor D. McLean was on board the latter vessel, and not in the hands of the rebels as reported. From Napier to Castle Point the Queen encountered very severe southerly gales, and a heavy sea which occasioned her to run under the shelter of the land and anchor until the morning of Saturday last By the s.s. Queen, we learn that tho schooner Meteor, Captain J. P. Oakes, from Auckland bound for Canterbury, is lying weather bound at Castle Point. Tho Meteor left Aucklnnd on Friday, the 21st ult at 4.30 p.m., and has lain at Castle Point since ahe 27th ult. She experienced very severe weather during the passage, a succcsBion of S.S.W. Rales and high seas. Arrival or ru:?.*. Wanganui. —The W.S.N. Company's s.s. Wanganui, Captain Lowe, sailed from Wellington on Wednesday, tho 26th July, at 9 p.m. for Wunganui, during a strong S.E. gale. Cleared Sinclair's Head at 12.30 a.m. 27th, stopped tho engine, and went on under canvas, arriving off' the bar at 1 p.m., crossed immediately afterwards, aad took up her berth alougsido tho Wanganui Wharf at 2 p,m. Discharged cargo, and sailed again at one p.m, on Saturday, the 28th and arrived in this harbor on Sunday, at 1.30. a.m. having experienced fine pleasant weather from the westward all the way down. The Ahuriri crossed the Wanganui bar on the 27th July, at 1 p.m. just before tho Wanganui. She loaded cottle, and sailed next day day, at 1 p.m. for Taranaki.
