RESIDENT MAGISTRATES' COURT.

Monday, July 3. (Before C. D. R. "Ward, Esq., R.M.) DEUNKENNESS. Arthur George Crosbie, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Alexander Livingston, Thomas Josephß, and Francis Q-ilberfc were separately charged with, being drunk in the streets on Saturday evening. Being their first offence they were reprimanded, fined ss. each and discharged. George Young, an old offender, but one who had not been before the bench since the month of February was fined 10a. Constable Flanagan charged Thomas Bradley with using threatening language to him when in the execution of his duty ; ho apprehended him for being drunk. Fined 10s. Constable Dalling charged Thomas Love, with being drunk and using obscene language in Manners-street, on Saturday afternoon. Fined 20s, in default to be committed for 48 hours. Sergeant Crowder brought up John Brown at the desire of Mr Osgood, of the Empire Hotel, for being drunk and using obscene language. Mr Osgood being poorly was unable to attend, and the Sergeant was only able to state that the prisoner having been the worse for liquor, wag ejected by Mr Osgood's servants from the hotel, upon which ho tried to force his way back, and on being repelled stood cursing on the footway in front of the door. Fined 20s, in default of payment to bo committed for JB_ hours. LUNACY/. Constable Dundas charged Alfred Bickman, a laboring man, with creating a mob. It appears that the prisoner was shouting and haranguing a crowd on Saturday evening. Sergeant Crowder stated that the man was of unsound mind and that his wife was now in the Asylum for having destroyed one of her children. The Benoh re* manded the case for the purpose of procuring medical testimony regarding the man's mental condition. The prisoner, who was evidontly insane, burat out into sonic appeal to the Bench as he was being removed from the dock. DISPUTED CLAIMS. C. F. "Webbe v. H. W. Mitchell— Debt £12 Ba. Adjourned for fourteen days. J. Farmer v. J. Goodge — Debt £2 7s. Amount and costs paid into Court. S. Dickson v R. S. Cheesraan — Debt £7 — Parties not in attendance. J. Lambert v W. P. Pickering— Debt £63— Judgment by consent for amount and costs.
