THEATRE ROYAL.

TIIE WIELAND AND LEOPOLD BROS.

On Monday evening, those flying trapeziens, the Wieland Brothers, made their first appearance before a Wellington public at the Theatre Royal. On Tuesday ovening, tho building was occupied by the moeting o£ Odd Fellows, and- last night, for tho first tiino the daring acrobats were able to perform some of their fearless exploits in the air. Tho performances commenced, with a grand ballet d' fiction ,entitled ' tho Spanish dancors/ performed by the Leopold family, and a more legitimato success wo novor witnessed. Tho story of the " Gullician fete," is just one of those living novelets which Don Joso do Espronceda might havo written in fluent verse, or Donna Maria do Zayas told in equally fluent prose. It comprises a little love, a good deal of jealousy, some anger, and an abundance of gaiety ; the characters being a cavalier sangre pur, a beautiful peasant girl, a tipsy bull-fightor, a matador, and sundry minnows. Of course the whole story is pantomimically told, and the dancing is particularly graceful and novel Fraulein Fannie is all vivacity, restless energy, flashing motion, fanciful play of the limbs, and

abandon, with a certain aplomb winch infuses s dash of Spanish gravity into the most fan* tastic of her movements. The brothers Leopold combine extreme grace of attitude and movement, with precision, ease, incessant attention to the business of tho scene, and a thorough, knowledge of musical timo. Altogeth<r, we can safely say, that if any ono wants to see dancing, such as few of us havo seen since our last night at tho Italian Opera House, lot him or her not fail to see Fraulein Fannie and tho Leopolds. Tho celebrated and intrepid Weilaud Brothers followed the ballot with gymnastic feats, the accomplishment of which seemed almost incredible. The bills speak of last night's entertainment by these artistes as " Olla Podricla Acts." We have seen similar performances in London, termed drawing room exhibitions, but under either name j it was a wonderful array of very clever acrobatic j feats. The brothers were loudly applauded. The Scotch Ballet a" action entitled "Perpetual Motion " concluded the excellent bill of fare, and tho audience went home thoroughly satisfied. This evening the celebrated Canine drama " The . Forest of Bondy " in which the famous dog Leo will represent the Dragon, is to be performed.
