Rangatiba. — The s.s. Rangatira, Captain Mundle, arrived in this port yesterday morning, at half-past eight o'clock, from Dunedin and Lyttelton. She left Dunedin on 29th and arrived at Lyttelton on the following morning at 4 a.m. j left Lyttelton on the Ist July, at half-past one, arriving hero as above, with three cabin and eleven steerage passengers. Arrival op the Chabxotte Andrews. — The barque Charlotte Andrews. 356 tons, H. Vandervord, master, from Sydney, arrived in this harbor on Saturday night. The Charlotte Andrews left Sydney on the 23rd ult., and experienced fine weather during her quick run over of eight and a half days. Captain Vandervord reports the non-arrival of the English mail at Sydney up to the 23rd ult., so no telegraphic summary of news is to be expected by the s.s. Auckland. The gunboat Sandfly was despatched yeflterday morning, for the purpose of. sounding Cook's Strait, prior to the laying down of the cable which will connect North and South by the bond of the electric telegraph. The Amerioan barque Mary and Edith, Capt. Cootes, from Valparaiso, arrived, in. this harbor yesterday afternoon, after a passage of sixty days. Her cargo consists of 460 tons flour, and a quantity of bran. She is consigned to Messrs Levin &Co. Arrival of the s.s. Otago. — The s.s. Otago, belonging to the P.N.Z.& A.R.M. Company, W. Smith, commander, arrived in this harbor yester* day at noon, from Picton, Nelson, Taranaki, and Manukau. The Otago left Wellington on the 19th ult. 12.30 p.m, arriving at Picton the same afternoon at 5 o'clock. Left again for Nelson the following morning, at 8.30 a.m, and arrived at 4 p.m, experiencing favorable weather throughout the voyage. Left Nelson on the 22nd at dark and reached Taranaki at daylight. Left late on the same evening and was off Manukau Heads at daylight on Saturday ; arriving at Onehunga at 10 a.m. Remained at the Manukau until the forenoon of the 28th when she left again, called at Taranaki and arrived at Nelson on the evening of the 30th ult, left at dusk on the second inst., arrived at Picton at 3 o'clock yesterday morning, left again at daylight and arrived as above. The 1 Otago moored alongside the hulk to coal and will proceed Southward this afternoon. By her we are in receipt of our usual Pioton, Nelson Taranaki and Auckland files.
