Our files are to the Ist Inst. On Monday the 26th ult., the Twelfth Session of the Marlborough Provincial Council met at Picton. On Wednesday the 28th, the leading article of the Marlborough Press says : — "This day 9 issue will terminate the interest of the proprietors in the Marlborough Press, conducted and managed by them during a period of five years and a half. The new proprietors are a company who it is expected will not lose by their speculation. ACCIDENT OFF TUB PICTON WHARF. Mr McClellan a gentleman resident in the Waihopai, whilst in tho act of stepping from the s.s. Wellington on to the Wharf, missed his footing and fell into deep water, he was however rescued by Sergeant Emerson of the Marlborough Police, who at once jumped into the water after him. The Press says that Mr McClellans is the eighth life saved by the Sergeant, who is ono of the most expert swimmers in the Colony.
