JL lowing remarkable position of the Royal, with respect to all other offices :— In 1860, its increase of Fire Insurance Duty was more than double that of any otheb Company, and more than Thirty per cent of the entire increase of all the London offices combined. Its increase was also more than Thirty per cent of the entire increase of the other twenty-eight Country offices combined. In 1861, likewise, the Royal stands at the head of all offices, its increase being considerably more than Fifty per cent above that of the Company approaching nearest to it, and actually more than one-sixth of the entire increase of the remaining forty-three offices.
