Electho-Biology.— On Monday last, Captain Wilson gate his farewell lecture at the Odd- Fellows' Hall, which was very fairly attended. We must say, however, that we expected to see the reserved seats better filled, especially on this, the last occasion that the people here will have an opportunity of witnessing such a series of well executed experiments, one of which appeared almost miraculous. Mr Walden, jun., having his arm in a sling in consequence of a dislocation of the shoulder on Saturday last, and suffering extreme pain as he told the audience from the platform, received complete use of his arm, and loss of all pain in less than a quarter of an hour, by Captain Wilson's manipulations, in the presence of the audience, which was greeted with tumultuous applause. To show the completeness of the cure, Mr Walden was at drill with his Company on Wednesday last, and went through the various evolutions without pain or inconvenience ; in fact, his arm is as well as ever it was. We trust that Captain Wilson will pay periodical visits to Wellington to continue that work which he has already begun, in the relief of pain and suffering. Lyceum Theatbe. — We perceive by an advertisement in another column that Mr J. H. Williams takes his benefit at this place of amusement on Monday evening next, for which a most attractive bill is put foith, comprising the pretty drama uf " Love in Humble Life," the screaming farce of " Poor Pillicody," and the famous '* Bombastes Furioso." Mrs Foley appears in two capital characters, and Mr G. H. Swan, after a short rest, again dons the " sock and buskin" and sustains his well-known impersonation of " Poor Pillicody." A Miss Wilton is "on the card" to make her debut, and the assistance of several amateurs of tke Colonial Defence Force, cannot fail to draw a full house. We understand that this will be the last opportunity the public will have of witnessing the performance of Mrs Foley, for some time at least as that lady purposes visiting Wanganui to open a new theatre, per next steamer. , A Plucky Wageb. — A well-known coachmaker in Wellington, near 70 years of age, has undertaken to run a wheel against a young man also of Wellington. The race is to be from Cooper's Corner, Thorndon Quay to Eai Warra, and is tor £5 a-side. A deposit has been made, and a meeting to settle preliminaries will take place on Wednesday at the Crown and Anchor. Bathers, Bewabe.— Last week, Mr Judd «aught a large shark, at Ward's Island. It measured 9 feet 6 inches in length ; and was of immense size in girth. On being opened, no less than 7^ dozen eggs were found. This voracious monster was caught close in shore, in 6 feet water. Settlemeht on the West Coast of the Middle Island. — The Melbourne Argus, of the 4th inst., say, " That a preliminary meeting of persons desirous of forming a settlement on the West Coast of New Zealand was held last evening, at Scott's Hotel, Collins-street, west. After a brief discussion amongst the few peisons present, it was resolved to form a Martin's River Company, with a capital of £1500, in shares of £10 each, to purchase a vessel, provide her with all that was required aud despatch her first to Milford Haven, and subsequently to Martin's Bay, with a view of ascertaining wbare the most eligible spot fora new settlement existed in that locality. A provisional committee was appointed, and the meeting adjourned until Wednesday evening at half-past seven o'cUck.
