Pbolibtq Wheat pbom New Zealand.— Thereis : now growing at Broughton Hackett, on land in the occupation of Philip Bea, near the B romp ton Hackett turnpike-gate, some New Zealand wheat of an extraordinary kind. The grower received last year the corns of the wheat direct from New Zealand, and planted them a foot asunder, and the way in which the plants " tillered" out is remarkable. No single corn produced less than 17 blades, and some as many as 60;' and even up to 65, each straw bearing some 50 grains of wheat. The wheat was planted in October, and is now begining to ripen. — Worcester Journal, The All-EVgland Eleven.— -We take the following from the Melbourne Examiner of November 7th:—" Another six weeks, and the All-England Eleven will have arrived in the colony. The preparations for their reception and for the opening campaign are now commencing in.earnest. Owing to the good spirit with which the various «lubs have met Mr Marshall, bis preliminary arrangements for the season are pretty, well. advanced. During last week he concluded arrapgements with the Sandhurst and Ararat Clubs to play matches «n their respective! grounds, against twenty-twos of the district, upon terras which both parties pronounce satisfactory. There are now three country matches agreed upon, as the Castlemaine players, who beat the first English players, and who are most eager to repeat the feat, arranged .for a visit from these more formidable antagonists some time back. At Ballargt there will also be a. match, the agreement bjsing jusj about being entered into, and Maryborough will probably be the scene of anotheV contest.
