A fine new steamer has been launched at Glasgow, christened tho Otago, which is intended to carry the maila between Sydney and New Zealand. Her length of keel and fore rake is 234 feet fi inches ; breadth of beam, 26 feet 9 inches; depth of hold, 15 feet 6 inches. She will be despatched by Messrs Houlder Brothers and Co for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand on the 22nd October, and it is intended that she shall steam out the whole way, calling at St Vincent and the , Cape to coal, and at Melbourne to land passengers and mails. Among the passengers by the Derwentwater is Mr Harper, a eon of tho Bishop of Canterbury.
