SWEDEN
The Aftonbladet of Stockholm gives positive assurance that a division of 20,000 Swedes and 7000 Norwegian troops are in complete readiness for transfer across the Categat in support of Denmark, the latter kingdom being equally prepared to move forward 50,000 native soldiers on the first approach of the contingents from Hanover, He.sse, and Mecklenberg, charged with putting in Federal execution on HotsteiuLauenberg. Scandinavian unity both of action and seutiment is no theory of Dreamland, but a stubborn reality. The Copenhagen journals have published a note addressed by the Swedish Government to its representatives in London and Paris in reference to the Danish question. The Swedish government declares that the demand made by the Federal Diet on Denmark to withdraw the proclamation of the 30th of March (decreeing the political severance of Holstein from the Danish kingdom), amounts to an intolerable interference in the affairs of the monarchy. Denmark, in her reply, will probably refuse compliance, und declare that Federal execution will be regarded by her as equivalent to a declaration of war. Such a reply Sweden consider^ quite justified by the circumstances, and she expresses a hope that the Western Powers will not remain indifferent to the outbreak of war, which will in all probability ensue should Deumark be left unprotected. Moreover, the note adds, that in the erent of such a struggle being forced upon Denmark, Sweden might feel herself compelled by regaid for her owu interests, which the subjugation of the Dauish kingdom would imperil, to throw herself actively into the contest. This note, although dated so far back as July 19, will be read with much interest at present.
