Rangatira, for Napier and Auckland, on the 14th Nov. ' ' : ' Lady Bird, s.s., for Sydney abont the 20th Nov. Storm Bird, s.&, foe Lyttelton and Otago, on the 20tli November. Wonga Wonga, s.s., for Wanganui, Taranaki, Raglau, and- Manukau, 20th Nov. LC.R.M. Co's s.B. Phoebe, A. Kennedy, left the Bluff on the 6th at 0 pm, experienced strong head winds to Port Chalmers, where she arrived at O o'clock next morning; left again at 12.30 pm on the Bth, and made the passage to Lyttelton in 21 hours against a moderate head wind. Left Lyttelton at 6am on the 10th, arrived at the Kai Koras at 3.30 pm ; left at 6.30 pm, and arrived here at 5 o'clock yesterday morniag.

The Volunteer.— The brig Volunteer, 140 tons, Captain Muirhead, came alongside the wharf on Saturday afternoon. It will be remembered that the Volunteer was purchased some few months back by the New Zealand Steam Navigation Company, and has been lying in the stream undergoing suudry repairs from the hands of Mr Duthie, boat builder. She has been refitted with nsw masts and bowsprit, and has received sundry other repairs. She will shortly leave for the Manukau, at which place, we believe, she will be used as a hulk. — Ibid, Nov 2 The Esther fetched her auchorage on Saturday night, after a splendid run of 42 hours from Wellington. Since her last visit to Napier, she has had a thorough overhaul on the- patent slip at Wellington, and has likewise been newly coppered. She brings a full cargo for Napier and about (50 packages for the coast — Hawke's Bay Herald, November 4.

The Tyra with 80 head of fat stock on board arrived at Lyttelton on the 4th inst The barque Affiance, Captain Simson, from London, the 6th June, arrived in this harbor on Sunday the 25th Oct, after a passage of 141 days. She has had a, long and tedious passage, aud has experienced very boisterous •weather. She has brought 7 passengers, and a full cargo of gonei'al merchandise, and is consigned to Messrs Bethune and Hunter. She has brought three thorough bred horses (two fillies and a two year old colt), which have arrived in fair condition, considering the length of time they have been on shipboard. Four horses were shipped in London, but one of them, a splendid fllly. died during the passage. They are the property of Mr Hadfleld, a gentleman of large expsrience in horse-breeding, who states that they are as well-bred horses as ever left the mother country. Mr Hadfteld is a passenger by the Affiance, and has taken especial caro that the horses hare been properly attended to during the voyage. They were landed on the 27th Oc^ and placed in Messrs Bethune & Hunter's stables. — Independent, 2Sth Oct.

P.S. Prince Alfred. — We understand that this vessel is undergoing a thorough overhaul at Wangatmi, and when completed, will be almost an good as when launched. She is built of stringy bark, copper-fastened, and is only about two years old. Her hull is being re-caulked and coppered, and her running and standing gear will all be new. Her engines have been refitted by our fellow townsman Mr Kitson, and ai - e now in first rate order, and are roady to be put in her as soon as she is launched. She may be expected here in the course of a month. We wish her enterpiising owner, Mr Hisgie, every success. — Ibid.

The Otago. — The I.C.R.M. Company have just added another fine vessel to their fleet of steamers in these seas. The new steamer is called the Otago, is 800 tons, builders measurement, 150 horse power, nominal, and guaranteed to go 12 knots. She was built on the Clyde, and her engines were fitted thsre also. She is Al for 9 years, wis built under special survey, and is considered a very handsome niodeL Her dimensions are as follows : — Length, 228 feet : breadth, 26 feet SI inch ; depth of hold, 15 feet She has accommodation for 60 first class, and 70 second class passengers ; will carry a large cargo, and about 250 tons of coaL She was to start for Australia directly the cabin fittings were completed, say early in November. — Ibid.
