Mr Eagar, the new Colonial Treasurer, has the reputation of bein? a very able financer, and well fitted for the office ; having for a long time held a high and responsible position in connection with the Bank of New South Wales. Mr Wilson, the Secretary for Lands, is a mcdi* cal gentleman and member for one of the mining districts, and is said to be a thoroughly practical and judicious man. Mr Holroyd, the Secretary for Works, and Mr Faucett, the Solici-tor-General, are both barristers, in the enjoyment of good practice, and both were strong opposition members to the late Cowper Ministry. It is believed that the new Ministry will last some time, unless something unexpected arise to shake what is deemed their present strong position.
