Seconded by Mr ONeill, and agreed to. LEAVE OP ABSENCE. Leave of absence was refused to Mr Saunders. Leave of absence for a week was granted to the hon. Mr Mantell, who had beeu detained on public business. Leave of absence for a week was granted to Mr Fox and Mr Harrison on the plea of the Wonga not calling at Wauganui. Leave of absence was refused in the case of Mr C. R. Carter and Mr Fitzherberf Leave of absence was granted to Mr Brandon for a week, oh the plea of legal business in Wellington, as also to Mr W. W. Taylor, who had been absent at Rangitikei. Leave of abseuce was refused to Captain Baldwin, Otago, and Mr Wilkia, aud granted to Mr Wells. A penalty of£2o will be incurred by each of the members who were not present at the opening of the session and to whom leave of absence has been refused, but in the case of the Wellington members in the latter position it is probable that on explanation, the penalty will be remitted.

The Cross states that the Upper Houte is at a dead lock, uutilthe Government has appointed a representative in it.

The enquiry into Wrecks' Bill, passed its second reading.

The Colonial Defence Force Amendment Bill was read a second time.
