SYDNEY MARKETS. The Sydney Morning Herald of the 12th reports — The markets generally are still in a very depressed and unsettled state, and business is accordingly very dulL The commercial news from England by the mail, as contained in our telegrams, is very meagre, and has not yet caused any movement to speak of. In fact both buyers and sellers are desirous of waiting the arrival of the mail before they embark in any speculative transactions of importance. In the present state of things correct quotations are most difficult to obtain. Our market report is, therefore, necessarily very brief. Flouk. — The market is steady, first brands of Adelaide range from £15 to £15 10s per ton ; seconds and inferior, £14 10a to £15 ; wheat, 6a 9d to 7a per busheL Liquids are exceedingly dull of sale, and prices have a tendency to rule lower. Brandy has declined about 6d per gallon ; Martell's is quoted at 9s 9d to 10s 3d, and small sales have been made at auction, at 9s lid. Bum is also Hatter, and 30 op cannot be quoted higher than 3s to 3s Id. Geneva is dull, first brands range from 10s to 11s. Ale, in bulk, has somewhat recovered from the decline noticed last week, caused by large sales — first brands range from £5 10s to £G 10s per hogshead. Porter ia very dull of sale. Bottled porter has declined in price, and has been offered at 7s to 7a 3d. In bottled ale there ia no alteration. Teas are not so firm, and prices are rather lower. Sales of Congous, ex Anglo Indian, are said to have been made privately, £6 10s to £7 per chest Sugars are still very dull, and in the present state of the market it is impossible to give correct quotations. Ricn is flatter, and, notwithstanding the proposal of the Treasurer to place a duty of £5 per ton on this article, prices have givan way. Fine Patna, ex Corio, is quoted at £20 to £21 per ton ; and ex Oxenbridge, £18 to £20 per ton. Salt is steady. Liverpool is quoted at £3 5s to £3 10s per ton. Fine salt, £4 15s to £5 per ton. Oilmen's Stores are very dull of sale, and prices for most articles rule lower.
