SWEDEN AND RUSSIA

Alarm has been created at Stockholm by the arrival of Russian engineers at Botnersund. The fortifications of this place were destroyed by a Fiench corps d'annee during the last war. Aland in the Baltic is likewise to he fortified in defiance of the treaty of Paris. It is allirmed that the cabinet of Stockholm is preparing a protest which is shortly to be sent to St. Petersburg, und communicated to the five great Powers, against the warlike measure which Russia is now engaged in. The hereditary Prince Frederick Ferdinand of Deamaik, heir to the Danish crown, born 22nd November, 1792, died suddenly on 29th June.
