LAST NIGHT'S MEETING.

The late hour at which the meeting at tbe Odd Fellows' Hall closed last night, prevents our giving more than a brief report of tbe proceed* ings. It evinced unmistakeably the desire uf the citizens to have the lowest rate levied, that was consistent with carrying out the objects of the Act. The original resolution fixed ths rates of Jd per £, and although an amendment was moved,* proposing a late of ld, and a poll demanded, yet there is no doubt of wbat will be the result after tbe almost perfect uuanimity tbat was evinced. The poll takes place to-day from 12 noon till 4 p.m. We defer our comments on this measure till next issue.
