She left Manukau at 4 pm on the Bth, and crossed the bar at 7 am on the 9th; arrived at Taranaki at 6am on the 10th. The others are stock and coal ships, with the exception of the steamer Wakeol, from Launcestoa, which has arrived under sail. Tho Crimea and the Pryde will be towed up thia (Tuesday) •vening ; the others not until Wednesday morning. The Crimea has from 90 to 100 passengers, all well, the only death having heen that of an infant who was bom during the passage. — Daily Times, 2nd September. Arrival of the s.s. Conio, froh Dunedin, with Volunteers. — The 5.3. Corio, Captain A. C. Turner, arrived in harbour, from Dunedin, yesterday afternoon. She left on Wednesday last at G pm, and had moderate weather as far as Cook's Straits, when a S.W. gale came on which lasted 2 days. She brings 75 volunteers, under the command of Captain Home, who, with his wife, are the only cabin passengers. She has besides, 70 firkins of butter as cargo for this port. By her we have dates from Otago to the 2nd inst ; and, from this port, she proceeds on Thursday to Napier. There were no vessels on the berth for Auckland when the Corio left; the Airedale was expected, but had not arrived.— Southern Cross, Bth Sep.
