The Wonga Wonga for Wanganui, will sail to-day at 12, noon. ( The s.s. Lady Bird, left Wellington, at 1 p.m., on the 22nd inst, experienced light N. W., as far as Cape Campbell ■thence to Lyttelton a stiff breeze from 5.5.\7., with a short head sea, and arrived at that port at noon on the 23rd; left again at 3.30., p.m., same day, had light variable winds and fair weather during the passage, and arrived at Port Chalmers, at 1.30., p.m. on the 24th ; left again at 11, p.m.. on the 25th, experienced a moderate breeze from N.N E., until noon on the following day, when a strong gale from N. W., suddenly sprung up, causing a high and turbulent cross sea, which washed away the starboard boat from the davita ; arrived at Lyttelton, at 11.45. p m on the 26th ; left again at 2,30., p.m.. p.m. on the 27th, experienced moderate head winds and fine weather throughout the passage, and arrived in this harbour at 11.30 on the 28th. On the 26th inst, about noon, passed the paddle steamer Prince Alfred about 50 miles to the southward' of Bank's Peninsula, supposed to be bound tc Wanganui. The brig Gazelle, was getting underweigh -.when the Lady Bird left Port Cooper. The barque Indus with coals had arrived at that port "reported leaky." The brig Tyra was in that port when the Lady Bird left The brigantme Heron, had also arrived. The Ida Zeigler, from Auckland, February 5 arrived at Plymouth, May 14. I The ship Owen Glendower, Captain Norris, which left the Downs on the 18th May, with passengers for Auckland, put into Plymouth, on May 25, leaky.— Home News. The British Crora sailed from the Mersey on the 16th May for Canterbury, New Zealand, with upwards of 350 emigrants on board. Nearly 200 consisted of the families of operatives from the Lancashire cotton districts. Ibid Extraordinary .Running bx the Clipper Ship Lightning.— The Liverpool Daily Post, speaking of this clipper says:— "This ship made the passage from Victoria to Liverpool in sixty-three days, a feat never accomplished : by any other ship, In one day she ran by observation ' the extraordinary distance of 430 knots, or 501 statute miles, being upwards of 21 miles per hour "
