By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Batb, Governor and C.ommander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealaud and its Dependencies and vice Admiral ,of tho same, &c, &c. WHEREAS it is provided by the • " Mililia Acts Amendment Act, 1862," that it shall be lawful for the Governor or such person os he shall appoint as his Deputy for that purpose from time to li(B6 to call out tho whole or any part or number of any Regiment Battalion .Corps or Company as he shall think fit. And whereas it is expedient that a person, should be appointed for the Militia District of Wairarapa to exercise the abi ye recited power. Now therefore I Sir George Grey the Governor as aforesaid i;^ puisuance and execution of the said rpoii?,'! Act do hereby appoint Isaac Earl Featherston, Esq., to be dtiy Deputy within the said District of W&irttrapa from time to time to call out tho Militia thereof for training and exorcise subject nevertheless to the conditions and restrictions of the laws in force for the regulation of the Militia. Provincial Secretary's Office, Wellington, I Oth July, 1863. THE following notifications, &c., are re-published from the New Zealund Gazette, for general information, J. Woodward, Acting Provincial Secretary Regulations for Ballotting. By His- Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander - inCbief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealaud and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c, &c. WHEREAS by the « Militia Acts Amendment Act, 1860, " it is provided that. if all the men of any class be not required, the men to be drawn out shall be taken by Ballot, according to such rules as the Governor shall irom time to time make for that purpose : Now therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor as aforesaid, in execution of the said recited Act, do hereby make the following Rules for the Ballotting of Militiamen; thai is to say,— 1. The name of each Militiaman liable to be drawn is to be written on a separate piece of paper or card of a uniform size, 2. All the pieces of paper or card so inscribed are to be placed in a bag together, 3. The Officer Commanding in the District, in the presence of a Justice of the Peace, is to draw from the bag, one by one, as many pieces of paper e^rd as there are Militiamen required, 4. If any Militiamen are drawn and not liable to serve, from any sufficient reason, the drawing is to continue until the full number of serviceable Miiitiamen is obtained. 5. The names so drawn are to be written in a list, which list is to be signed by the Officer Commanding and the Justice. 6. Any Militiamen liable to be drawn may be present at the drawing. The Officer Commanding in the District respectively is charged with the execution of. these Rules. By His Excellency's command, Alfred Domett. Notices relating to Wellington District. Fixing number of Days for Training. By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Balh, Governor and Commander - inflbief. in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c, &c, &c. WHEREAS it is provided by the " Militia Acts Amendment Act, 1862 " that the number of days and hours for the meeting of the Militia for anj District for training and exercise shall be from time to time fixed by the Governor : . Aud whereas it is deemed expedient to call out for training and exercise certain portions of the Militia of the Militie District of Wellington : Now, therefore, in pursuance and exe> oution of the power and authority con> ferred upon me by the said recited Act I do hereby fix the number of days anc hours during which that portion of the Militia of the Wellington District which may. be called out for training and exer cisc within Three months from the dat< hereof shall be trained and exercised ai Two hours a day for Fourteen days.
