THE PATENT SLIP.

! A sum of money was placed ou the estimates last session, for the erection of a pateut slip here, and since then, Mr James Scott, an engineer of considerable experiencein undertakings of the kiud has been employed by the Provincial Government to fix on a site, and prepare the necessary plans. During the past two months, Mr Scott has been engaged in this work, and we understand, has furnished the Provincial Secretary with an estimate of the cost, amounting, we believe, lo £25,G00. The Government have expressed a desire that a company should be formed to take the matter in hand, in which case, a guarantee of eight per cent on the estimated cost would be given for 15 years. We really think this to be a speculation woithy the attention of local capitalists, and as Mr Scott leaves this province for Newcastle, N.S.W., on Monday, it would be well that those interested, should avail themselves of the information he can furnish, before his departure.
