This Company ii established for the purpose of supplying to ihe thriving anil increasingly important Colony of New Zealaud those advantages which are already enjoyed by the colonies of Australia and Canada by the Trust and Loan Societies now existing. Its operations will consist of Loans and Advances on Mortgage, upon real security in New Zealand, for which the system of Public Regislration of Land eslablished there affoids great facility, with perfect safety. The Company will also be prepared to make advances on securities of a substantial character, including those to Municipal Bodies upon their Bonds. It is not proposed that more than £5 shall be called up on each £25 share (of which £2 will he sufficient for present purposes), hut that to the extent ofthe remaming £-20 per Share, the Company shall exercise its borrowing powers for procuring money in Great Hritnin upon Debenturss for terms of years at a fixed rate of interest. This money will also be lent in the same manner as the Paid-up-Capital, aud the lenders will be protected both hy the securities takeu and by the subscribed but uncalled Capital, which will itself be equal to the entire amount borrowed. New Zealand offers peculiarly favorable opportunities f"r operations of ihe nature proposed ; the prosperity of the Settlers enables them to enjoy with profit large sums of money at rates of interest considerably higher than those ordinnrily current in England ; Uie simplicity of the local Laws affecting real estate affords a sale and inexpensive mode of granting security; and property is of steadilf improving value, as the energies of tho Colonist, the increase of population, and the resources of the Colony itself become further developed. These circumstances, and the successful operations of Companies of this description in other Colonies, justify the I-irectors in anticipating an amply remunerative return to Shareholders.
