GHRISTCHURCH LIVE STOCK MARKET. Mr W. D. Barnard reports all kind of really good horses are in great demand, the market being quite bare. In fact the horses offered for sale during the week wore so inferior that they have with great difficulty been quitted at the prices quoted. Draught Horses. — Five inferior draught stock, irom *50 Saddle and Light Harness Horses.— Twenty inferior saddle and lighthamess, from £9 10b to £36 105, averaging £23 10s per head. Working Bullocks.— Three pairs working bullocks, in good condition, £34 10s per pair. Cows.— First-class cows, £20 ; inferior do, £10 to £14. Two-year-old Steers.— Eight were disposed of at £10 per head. At the weekly sale held last Saturday, there were plenty of purchasers present, and very high rates might have been obtained for first-class stock of every description. THE GRAIN MARKET. Very little has been doing in the com market since our last report, and prices are about the same, with a slight tendency to arise in the price of oats. The demand for wheat is of a limited character, and the supply is equal to it. We quote the following prices : Wheat (white) ... 4s 6d to 5s Odl Sfe* (red i. ■::: SSS2S ***** Oats 6s Od to 5s 6dJ Not much demand for other settlements. Potatoes £12 to £15 per ton. Supply adequate to demand at present high rates. PRICE OP TIMBER, ETC. j N.Z. boards and scantling, 255. to 26s per 100 feet. !
