English Newspapeus. — While glancing over a file of • Punch' iv Mr Lj'on's shop yesterday, wo were much pleased to observe that the latest dates of all the London newspapers daily and weekly, had been received by the mai land we.ie on sale. No le3sthan32differentjournals,including the' Times', ' Illustrated London News,' ' Punch,' ' The Daily 1 News,' &c, &c, were all invitingly spread out for inspection and purchase. The enterprise thus shown in providing for the intellectual wants of the community is highly creditable, and doubtless only requires to be made known, to meet with a cordial support and encouragement. Band op Hope.— The juvenile nvmibors of thi 8 Society to the number of nearly 400, held their anniversary tea meeting last night in tha Odd Fellows Hall, which, despite the damp weather, passed off very successfully. Horticultural Society. — Owing to the pres" sure on our space the report of the meeting of thi Society U unavoidably omitted.
