'pHE MEDICAL ADVISER, on the modern J. treatment of mental and physical incapacity syphilis, stricture, &c.j with unfailing rules and prescriptions for the speedy cure, by very simple means of all the more common diseases and supposed iucinable maladies of the sexual system. By Dr. W. De Koos, M.D., M.R.C.S., L.S.A., of the Ecolc de Medecine, Paris, Graduate iv Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery : Licentiate of the Royal Society of Apothecaries, &c. REVIEWS AND NOTICES. "To be your own counsel of your own doctorg entails risks that have become proverbial to a degree that prevents much good lesolulionfrom takin, nuy benefit or advantage when reasonably offered. Suspicion begets irresolution, and where there is no confidence good results seldom follow. Medical hooka are ft field for the faculty alone, and the public act wisely in regaining from their study, •' Drink deep or taste not the Pierian spring," is good advice where the uninformed mind, listening to its own apprehensions, is oftener ready to imagine thau use its cool judgment. There is one class of medical lore, however that stands iv a position somewhat exceptional to our remark, and which treats on disorders and irregularities in which morality is of'ended. For this reason the patient too otten suffers in secret, or pursues in ignorance practises that daily bring him into a more hopeless condition for want of friendly advice. 'Io such we jecommend a perusal of the c Medical Adviser ' of Walter De Koos, M.D., of London, an established physician, graduate, niid licentiate of all the regular institutions of London and Paris ; and wlio has made nervous disorders and their baneful origin his particular study, and obtained such a practice in i this branch of therapeutics, as qualifies him to be a I safe nnd competent adviser." — County Chronicle^ May 7,1861. To those wlio contemplate marriage its perusal is especially recommended. — The kuowledge it imparts must come some time, and happy they who do not possess it too late. —Cure is certain in every curable case, nnd few indeed ate they which are not so. — It is calculated to effect a complete revolution in the treatment of these complaints. — Simple and inexpensive, every sufferer may cure himself speedily, privately, and at the least possible cost. From long practical observation of the treatment pursued in the most famous institutions of this country and the continent ior those diseases referred to in the above work, the Proprietor has had somewhat unusual facilities for acQuiring that uniform success that has hitherto characterized his pracuce, in which the distressing consequences resulting tiom the injurious employment of mercury, enpivi, savsnparilla, nnd similar dangerous medicines are entirely obviated. Lasting benefit in those cases can only be leasonably expected at the hauds of those \vl o (Jevoie their chief attention to such diseases; and to such on'y can confidence be safely extended. D' 1 ' i«e R. icfors wi»h pride to the numbers he has boeu instrumental in restoring to health and happiness: whikttp all who need such aid he offers every assurance of speedy restoration.
