SYDNEY.

We have dates from Sydney to 25th Febuary. Tbe trial of the prisoners ror the great escort robbery commenced on the 23rd iost, in the Supreme Court, before bis Honor the Chief Justice, and a mixed jury. Tbe indictment charges. Alexander Fordyce, John Bow, John Maguire and Henry Manns, for thaUhey, on the 15th June, 1862, at Eugowra, did assault and rob James Condell, Henry Meran, William Havtand, aud John Fegan, and steal 2719 ounoes lof gold, £3700 in notes, and various minor articles ; and that immediately before the said [ robbery they did feloniously wound James Condell: Two other counts charging the wounding as being at the time of and after the robbery, were given up by the Crown. The trial up to our latest dates had lasted two days, aud was not completed. Bushranging would appear to be rife at Lambing Flat, and a recent case of "sticking up" a store there has made the inhabitants talk of formiug a vigilance committee, for tlieir protection. Many other robberies are reported elsewhere. * The whole eountry has been visited by copious rains, wliich have averted further loss and damage to stock and crops.
