Tlio following letter has been addressed to tho editor of tho ' Ilawke's Bay Herald.' It completely disposes of Mr Colonso'a nsserlion that ho had been misroported by that journal.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE HAWKE'h BAY HERALD. Sir,— Observing that Mr Wm. Colenso has a second time, and in still stronger language than before, in tho • Wellington Independent' of the lith inst., impugned the accuracy of your report of his speech at the closo of the late election for the town of Napier,— we, tho undersigned, having been present during fcho whole of the proceedings, hereby boar testimony to tho substantial coirectnoss of the report in question, particularly to the uso of tho offensive expressions reported as having boon applied by him to Scotchmen generally.
