DRY ROT.
To the Editor of the Wellington Independent. Sib, — \Tay I ask through the columns of your journal, the following, viz : — Ist. Does the insect which produces the dry rot, as it is called, and which infests the white pine, breed in the wood, and are the holes produced by the insect freeing itself from its wood prison. 2nd.^ Or are the holes bored in the wood by the insect in order to lay its eggs in them. 3rd. As the dry rot is becoming a serious matter to those whose houses are unfortunately buiit of white pine, can any of your readers inform me of any remedy that will in some measure stay or prevent the ravages of the insect.
