[The following appeared in an " Extra" published yesterday morning.] Independent Office, Friday morning. Sinoe the publication of our Summary yesterday, ths arrival of the Prince Alfred from Lyttelton and Otago, the Queen fiom Auckland and the Storm Bird from Nelson and Auckland, puts us in possession of sume items of later intelligence, which we publish in the present extra for transmission by the English mail to»day. Considerable excitement was created yesterday ih Wellington by the arrrival of H.M.S.S, Harrier, Commander Sullivan, from Auckland having Lieut. -General Cameron and suite on board. He has come to Wellington on a military tour of inspection. On his leaving the vessel the yards were manned, and a salute fired, immediately after which landed and proceeded to the Queen's Hotel. AUCKLAND. The two chief t) pics of interest from Auckland are the election for the office of Superintendent, and the Inter-Provincial Cricket Match of wbich we- subjoin details.
