SUMMARY FOR THE DECEMBER MAIL TO EUROPE AND AUSTRALIA.

Wellington Independent Office, Wednesday Evening, December 10, 1862. The departure of the mail for England having I been fixed for a day earlier than usual, in order to allow longer time for the transit from Otago to Melbourne, obliges us to confine our sum* mary to matters purely local. With a desire, however, to afford our subscribers the opportunity of transmitting any important news from Auckland or Taranaki, that may arrive during the course of to-morrow (Thursday), we shall issue a supplement immediately after the arrival of the Northern steamer.
