CAPTURE OF TWO OF THE SUPPOSED MAIL ROBBERS.
[From the Bathurat Free Press, November B.] On, Thursday afternoon a mounted trooper named James Wright, having received information that three men were in the neighborhood of Keleo, who it was believed were concerned in the robbery of the mail en Wednesday night, he at ones proceeded to that neighborhood and came in sight of two men, who -with .their, horses, were stopping at Vines's public-house : as soon as they saw Wright they mounted their Horses and rode I off. Wright galloped after them for about two miles, when one of them losing his hat, immedi' ately threw away hia blankets and pint pot, which. were strapped on to the horse, and the trooper coming within hailing distance, ordered them to stand ; one of the men did not reply, but the other said he would sooner be shot than stand. Both the men galloped on, and the trooper threatened to fire, and as they would not stop, he shot one of ;■ the horses through the head ; the horse at once stopped, and the trooper then ordered the rider to dismount and lay down ; he replied that he would sooner be shot than to do so; the other man then fgalloped towards the trooper thinking to rescue his mate, but Wright covered him at once with his rifle, and pulled trigger, but the cap missing fire, the bravo came nearer still, bat being covered with a revolver, became somewhat alarmed and made off. Wright having, after marching a mile, given his prisoner into the charge of the foot police at Kelso, gave chase to the other man, and when turning sharp round the corner of a fence, came upon the third man of the party'; this man had a revolver upon him, but being ordered to stand he did so at onoe ; Wright then took the revolver from him and brought him to Kelso, where, he delivered him up to the police, and with several other troopers proceeded at a rapid pace in search of the third man, who, in the meantime, had -got so far ahead that they could not .overtake him. It is believed that the man who escaped' had a con* siderable sum of money in" r hi9 possession, and has ha can be identified by several persons, it is Hoped hs -will yet be captured. On the same d&y three other persons named Dilloj* were apprehended by S.-0.-1 Wilson at their own residence, at WinbumdaleV and were brought to Bathurst.
